Anyone that knows me well will tell you that I’m an avid snacker. Sure, before I leave the house I check I’ve got my keys, phone and (yes, I’m one of those girls) my makeup bag but I also make sure I’ve got enough snacks to last me for the duration of my outing. It’s very rare that I actually ever get hungry because I’m snacking way too often for that to happen!
And I like ‘good’ snacks. Snacks that give me an energy boost, taste delicious and keep me going between meals. So you can imagine how happy I was when I first discovered Elephant Food in Holland & Barrett. As I shop there regularly, I’m quick to notice new products on the shelves and these lovely brightly coloured bags were positioned right by the counter – so I couldn’t miss them. I picked up one of each and have never looked back.
So what are they? Well, each of the three colours represents a different combination of delicious superfoods. The red Brilliant Berry Boost is full of goji berries, blueberries, bee pollen, cranberries, quinoa and cocoa and is the perfect sprinkle on granola and yoghurt in the morning or even on plain vanilla ice cream for a little crunch. Though I would technically categorise all three bags as snacks, the berry one contains lots of tiny pieces and is therefore a little messy to eat on the go – so it’s definitely better as a nutritious sprinkle!
The green bag, Coco Chomp Charge contains coconut, raw cashews, cocoa, buckwheat clusters and cranberries and if I’m in the house, I’ll use this one to top my smoothies for an added superfood boost (and again for a little crunch – I like to mix textures). I actually posted a photo on my Instagram where I used the ‘Brilliant Berry Boost’ to top a smoothie bowl I made (basically a super-thick smoothie with the consistency of ice cream – 10/10 would recommend), which you can view here.
And finally, last but definitely not least because it’s my favourite of them all, the blue bag Nuttin’ But Energy is full of raw cacao, brazil nuts, almonds, sunflowers seeds and buckwheat clusters. This is the chunkiest snack bag, containing whole nuts and big, round pieces of raw chocolate – a combination that has totally won me over. It’s so delicious, it’s hard to believe it’s so good for you!
The products from Elephant Food are entirely natural. They source organic ingredients where possible and aim to create nourishing, wholesome snacks that taste delicious and deliver essential nutrients; namely fibre, protein and heart-healthy fats. And they’re both dairy and gluten free (yay for me!).
If you get the chance to try Elephant Food, be sure to let me know what you think – I hope you love it as much as I do!
Love, Beth xo.
