You’ve seen the shower selfies, the dirty ‘legs in the bath’ photos and hundreds of beautiful people pulling funny faces, scrub in hand. By now I’m sure, thanks to Instagram, you’re familiar with Frank, formally known as Frank Body. From the Instagram hype and the array of pretty pink-toned photos (the brand has absolutely nailed their marketing strategy), you could easily be convinced that Frank was just that – a bit of an Instagram hype; a fad, a pretty brand profile with not much substance. And for a short while, I fell victim to that way of thinking. I mean, how good could these products actually be?
Well, I put the Original Coffee Scrub and Body Balm to the test. And if you’re following me on Snapchat, you’ll know that I tested them for quite a while; no product will ever be featured here unless I absolutely love it and believe that it’s worth s̶h̶o̶u̶t̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶a̶b̶o̶u̶t̶ typing furiously about. So here goes.
Time To Get Dirty
Made up of roasted and ground coffee beans, the Original Coffee Scrub is a little messy (which makes it all the more fun to use, in my opinion). But with the high caffeine content targeting cellulite, stretch marks and scarring by stimulating blood flow, I honestly wouldn’t mind if it turned me green. Sweet almond oil hydrates and reduces the appearance of pigmentation whilst sea salt reduces inflammation and buffs away dry, flaky skin. In short? Post-scrub, your skin feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom, smells faintly of coffee (major win) and over time, imperfections seem almost blurred – certainly far less noticeable.
It’s recommended that you scrub 3-5 times a week, using as much or as little of the product as you wish (personally I think more is more) and after massaging it onto the skin – mainly targeting problem areas – leave for 5 minutes before rinsing off. Daunted by the prospect of standing freezing cold while it gets to work? I scrub when I need to wash my hair. But if you want to selfie instead? I promise I won’t judge.
So real talk: I am by no means promising you a miracle. You won’t see results after one scrub and cellulite isn’t going to magically disappear (I think the retail price would be a lot higher if it did). But having scrubbed for almost a month, I have definitely seen a change in the appearance of my skin. It’s smoother, more even and those pesky stretch marks that developed when my butt expanded (after one too many midnight feasts, shh) – they’re less noticeable. Granted, they’ll never disappear completely but I’m pretty damn happy with the improvement to the texture and surface of my skin.
Finish Up & Smooth It Over
You’re squeaky clean and silky smooth but how do you lock in all that goodness from the scrub? Frank‘s Body Balm is designed to hydrate and nourish, continuing to treat your skin long after your bath/shower/cheeky Snapchat selfie. It’s a winning combination of coconut oil for suppleness, grape seed oil for tightening and arabica coffee seed oil to stimulate blood flow, in turn targeting cellulite, stretch marks, psoriasis, eczema and acne. The Body Balm ensures that your hard work scrubbing is not undone.
Aside from post-scrub, it’s also perfect as an everyday moisturiser. It has a thick and luxurious texture, so you only need a pea-sized amount. Personally, I’ve been using it right before bed so that my skin has time to fully absorb the product overnight but because it’s not oily, you can also use it in the morning without fear of sticking to your clothes (ever tried pulling skinny jeans on over freshly moisturised legs?). And bonus: it smells faintly of coffee and Jaffa Cakes. Just beware that using it before breakfast might get your tummy rumbling …
