Remember when I posted this photo on my Instagram and hinted at something exciting? I can finally tell you that I shot a lookbook in collaboration with Olivia Burton and The Dressing Room. And I had a lot of fun doing it. Here’s what we got up to:
When you’re given free reign in a beautiful boutique to style a few outfits, where do you even start?
A couple of weeks ago, I headed to St Albans to spend an afternoon at The Dressing Room, a multi-award winning independent boutique founded and established by retail expert Deryane Tadd. The boutique is home to around 80 international brands including Paige Denim, Current/Elliott, American Vintage and of course, Olivia Burton. I have to admit, even though I had trawled Google for images, I really wasn’t prepared for the vastness of the store; it’s bright and airy with beautiful displays and it’s absolutely huge.
I was invited down to style a few different looks, in celebration of Olivia Burton‘s new season collection. Though the brand launches new designs every 2 months, this has to be my favourite collection yet. The new styles are beautiful. Think clean faces, bracelet-style straps and hints of rose gold. I picked out 3 designs to match 3 very different outfits, pulling a selection of pieces from the shop floor by some of my favourite brands.
Look 1 (my favourite)
Midi Moulded Bee Watch – £125
Duster: Twist & Tango
Shirt: Custom Made
Jeans: J Brand
Boots: Hudson London
I have to be honest, the first look is my favourite. It’s the outfit that is most suited to my personal style and one that I would wear every day. I’m obsessed with this duster (I was lucky enough to take it home with me and have worn it most days since) and adore the cut-out detail on these pointed black boots. Though I usually prefer silver jewellery over gold, I fell for the sweet bee design and decided to match the gold face with some simple but striking jewellery.
Big Dial Mesh Watch – £98
Jacket & Shirt: Reiko
Jeans: Paige Denim
Trainers: Ash Footwear
I don’t own a military jacket myself, so this was a slightly different look for me. I paired it with a utility shirt and high-top trainers to keep it casual, instead making a statement with the watch and the pendant.
Wonderland Silver & Rose Gold Mix Metal Watch – £95
Blazer: New Lily
Top: American Vintage
Leggings: Custom Made
Sandals: Lola Cruz
Faux leather leggings, strappy sandals and a longline blazer – a perfect outfit for the Spring/Summer transition. I love the way the mixed metals of the watch sit against the blush of the jacket.
I had the pleasure of meeting Deryane herself just as we were wrapping up the shoot.
So what do you think? Which is your favourite look?
I had such a lovely day shooting with a wonderful team and would like to thank both The Dressing Room and Olivia Burton for this opportunity.
