So on Friday I dragged myself out of bed at the crack of dawn and travelled to London to shoot with Only Child London for their new lookbook. It was AMAZING.
I love each and every piece from the upcoming collection (appropriately called The Reptilian Elite) – full of gold and green, big crystals and power-statement pieces to silence a room full of people. It’s a luxe collection that screams decadence and alludes to other-wordly wonders with its boldness and captivating qualities (a lot of pieces prompt a silent “wow” upon first sight). Only Child is most definitely a brand to watch – they may have already established themselves in both London and New York Fashion Week in September 2014 but they’re only just getting started with world-domination in their field. Just ask their crew of celebrity fans: Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and Cara Delevingne – to name a few.
As for the shoot – talk about working in a room full of talent! From Christina’s careful precision and unwavering concentration on the focus of each individual shot (both product and model) to Kelly and Shireeka’s meticulous organisation of the clothes rail and collection to create each unique ‘look’ to Sophia working her magic on my (at the moment, irritatingly very pimpled and uneven) face and hair. The room was alive with creativity! I simply couldn’t be more excited about seeing the results of the shoot, knowing that we all worked so hard to get each photo exactly right and akin to how Kelly had envisioned the lookbook.
Above, I’ve included some photos I took on my iPhone throughout the day: the empty studio (I was the first one to arrive), the makeup bench, a very sneaky peek at the new collection and some snaps of my incredible hair and makeup. I snapped a quick close-up when I got home too (see the last photo) – I couldn’t not document it! There was a lot of makeup on my face and I got a funny few looks on the train home but it worked so well in the studio and I was mesmerised by the artistry in the application and use of all the different brushes and products (all MAC by the way, I was in my element!).
Only Child will be showcasing at London Fashion Week again this year, likely to be stationed in the West Wing on the Ground floor – so go and have a look! You’ll also be able to pick up a hard copy of the new lookbook while I await the arrival of mine in the post …
Thank you to Kelly for this fantastic opportunity and thank you to all the team for such a memorable day!
Love, Beth xo.
P.S. I’ll be sharing the photos with you just as soon as I can get my hands on them, so stay tuned!
