Easter has been and gone (though chocolate egg-scoffing is still very much permitted), the sun is shining (at least now that storm Katie has blown over) and Spring is officially here, so it’s time to parade around in pastels and wear highlighter brighter than the sun.
Spring is my favourite. With the season comes a fresh start, a wardrobe revamp and a makeup bag overhaul. And what better way to preview the new collections than at prosecco-fuelled press days? I know I don’t usually share this sort of content on my blog but as I took you along on Snapchat and gave you a few sneaky previews on my Instagram (and because I have an abundance of pretty photos that otherwise wouldn’t see the light of day), I thought I’d show you in full the new Spring collections from Jakke and Next Beauty.
Jakke is a vegan brand but their faux fur, leather and suede staples are premium enough to rival the real deal. Unless someone told you it was faux? You definitely wouldn’t know.
Nudes, beige and pastels; the colour palette of dreams.
The faux suede biker that stole my heart. See how I styled it in this post.
Perforated faux leather two pieces, button pinafores and belted macs make for a perfect transitional wardrobe.
And can we talk about that baby pink fur coat? And the grey actually. Both please.
Although in most collections there are one or two pieces that don’t quite suit my personal style, I wanted everything. I could have happily taken each rail home and made it through to next Winter just fine. But I’m sure if you’re following me on Snapchat, you’ll know that I wear this biker jacket a lot and admittedly, I did kind of fixate on it as soon as I walked into the room. It’s light, fits snug but not too tight and is a perfect staple piece for everyday wear (especially with my current uniform of mom jeans and casual trainers).
But I was also lucky enough to preview the AW16 range and although I was forbidden from taking/sharing any photos (I promise I tried!), let me tell you that it’s incredible. I fell head over heels for an oversized colour block fur coat and when the collection drops in August, I’ll be the first to get my hands on it – that’s a promise. You heard it here first!
After cupcakes and a delicious carby breakfast, I then headed to the Next Beauty event.
Subtle peach, dusky pink and a hint of purple – I’m not a lipgloss kind of girl but for this range? I could be swayed …
The perfect smokey eyeshadow quad; shimmery and subtle enough for daytime or when gradually built-up, pigmented enough for a bold nighttime look.
From bright and bold to subtle or sparkly, there’s a nail polish for every occasion.
As I’m sure you know by now, I love candles. There’s something so relaxing about the occasional flicker as a delicious scent fills the room. With notes of white jasmine and honeysuckle (sweet floral fragrances are my favourite), this one is an absolute steal for £4.
In for a treat: the lovely Lydia Millen hosted live beauty tutorials, creating both a daytime and a nighttime makeup look using the new products from the Make Me Beautiful range. Hell if I looked that good fresh-faced, I definitely wouldn’t wear makeup!
I’ll be honest and admit that I’m not the most adventurous when it comes to new beauty products. I find out what works for my skin, pick my staples and stick to them – day in, day out (okay, bar a lipstick change). But with a range as diverse and affordable as Next Beauty, I’d be crazy not to experiment (even using coloured eyeshadow is risky territory for me). And I think I will. Watch this space …
