We watched her on our TV screens every night for almost 6 weeks - rooting for her to find romance, fist-pumping at her snacking at the first sign of any drama (I feel you girl) and admiring that gym-honed peachy bum. Oh, and apparently - also taking major fashion inspiration from her evening outfit choices. When Montana Brown wore this outfit during a recoupling, PrettyLittleThing experienced a huge surge in sales. So when she left the island, Montana was offered a deal to become the brand's first ever UK ambassador and launch her very own collection.
And it's exactly as you'd expect from what we saw of her on-screen style: sleek and minimal, simple and sexy, with structured shapes and powerful silhouettes. Made up of 35 pieces, the collection boasts everything from skin-tight flares and matching crops to bodycon dresses with mesh panels, cut-outs and thigh splits.
Having loved and worn PrettyLittleThing for years, this collaboration was perfect for Montana. She was passionately involved in the design process from start to finish, ensuring that every piece in the collection was reflective of her own personal style. The pieces are simple yet bold, striking in their figure-hugging shapes and designed to give girls confidence when they wear them.
I have a few favourites from the collection but I chose to shoot this co-ord because I adore the colour and because I love the way it fits. In a thick, scuba-like fabric, it hugs my body in all the right places and creates a silhouette that makes even me feel a little bit alright about myself. It's power dressing - for that night out with the girls spent dancing and sipping until the early hours. And it's timeless, an outfit that can be worn again and again.
Following the launch, I was invited to the PrettyLittleThing showroom where I had the pleasure of asking Montana a few questions about the collection and about what's next for her as a model and PLT ambassador. I even managed to sneak in a question about her diet and fitness routine because when I asked you all what you'd like to know, that was (unsurprisingly) top of the list. So without further ado ...
What was it like shooting the collection in LA?
It was phenomenal, it was my first time there and experiencing how they live in LA was just incredible. Everyone's skinny and everyone's gorgeous! The shoot was super fun, it took all day and it was so hot but the team were so nice to work with.
What was the inspiration behind the collection and how involved were you with the design process?
I was very involved, I worked with the head of design at PrettyLittleThing and I was very honest about what elements of the designs I did and didn't like. I would never want to put my face to something that wasn't completely authentic and suited to my own style. The aim with the collection is for it to be completely timeless so that people can wear it at any age, any size and so that in ten years time, it will still be fashion-forward.
What's your favourite piece in the collection?
Definitely the diamante strap dress and also the sheer dress with the bodysuit underneath, it looks amazing on!
Where would be your dream shoot location and why?
I'd love to do a shoot in Italy, it's so pretty. Maybe somewhere like Venice or Milan, where it's really fashion-forward. I love the traditional buildings.
What's next for you as a PrettyLittleThing ambassador?
Shooting in LA and the launch of the collection has been huge and we're hoping to introduce new colourways for some pieces, depending on which ones are the most popular. I'm also getting involved with the brand's social channels, we went live on PLT TV the other day answering questions from the public which was really fun. They had a competition at the end putting a puzzle together and I'm so competitive, I absolutely loved it!
And something everyone is dying to know ... what's your fitness routine like? How do you stay in such incredible shape?
I love the gym, it takes my mind away from everything and is perfect for when I'm stressed. I go 3 or 4 times a week for between 60-90 minutes, hard weights sessions. There's such a dramatic difference from when I used to only do cardio to transitioning into using weights. I'd really recommend it if people are looking to shift the weight in those stubborn areas. I know it's a bit daunting for girls especially but if you go with a gym buddy, it's a lot easier.
And what about your diet? Are you quite strict?
I'm not super strict, I definitely don't eat meat and veg all day long. It's fine to have a cheat day, some days I'll eat utter crap. I'll have a sandwich from Pret, a doughnut and a packet of crisps at the end of the day. It doesn't matter, as long as you're overall quite healthy, having everything in moderation and going to the gym regularly, it's not going to make that much of a difference. Don't kill yourself on a diet!
*Top tip*: Stand next to Montana if you want to look and feel like a potato. She's somehow even more gorgeous off-screen, totally down to Earth and just all-round bloody lovely. It was a pleasure to interview her.
