So let’s get one thing straight: I’m by no means a beauty blogger. I actually don’t know the first thing about make up. I just like it. A lot. Ever since I received my first Chanel eyeshadow quad as a Christmas gift when I was 11 (talk about setting the bar high Mum), I’ve been mesmerised by the world of make up and beauty. The fascination in being able to quite literally transform your face with a few key products is endless. And I have so much respect and admiration for those that spend hours watching tutorials and re-creating makeup looks. And contouring? Don’t even get me started, I wouldn’t know where to begin …
So as you can imagine, I was pretty excited about an opportunity to review this gorgeous eyeshadow trio from NARS. The only products I’ve ever bought from NARS are lipsticks and lipglosses (which I’m not usually a fan of; unless the gloss is thick, glides on easily and lasts longer than an hour – which is rare!) as admittedly, it’s quite a pricey brand. But so is Chanel, Dior and Bobbi Brown to name just a few. Yet we treat ourselves to products from these brands because quite often “you get what you pay for” and not only is the makeup of an outstanding quality, with large variety and kind to skin, it also lasts longer – so you definitely get your money’s worth.
This eyeshadow palette is definitely a product worth investing in. At first glance, you’d think you were a bit limited with this combination of colours but they’re all highly pigmented so on the skin, they look vibrant and beautiful. The shimmery champagne pink has to be my favourite; it looks beautiful swept over the upper eyelid or dabbed on the inner corners to give you that bright-eyed, I-look-like-I’ve-slept-for-eight-hours-but-in-fact-it’s-been-two glow . The matte blue glides on as an almost dark grey, meaning it’s the perfect base for a sultry smokey eye while the glittery green can be used on the outer corners, functioning as a shimmery winged liner to finish off a night-time look. For a more subtle look, either of the three shades would look gorgeous swept over the entire eyelid during daytime, giving you a shimmery effect without making a bold statement.
This NARS eyeshadow trio might be my first but it definitely won’t be my last! What do you guys think of these colours?
Love, Beth xo.
