People have a tendency to overcomplicate things, wouldn’t you agree? Whether it’s relationships, a creative process or simply making plans about where to go for dinner, we appear to have this incessant need to override simplicity and to add detail and components of confusion to every decision we make, in all aspects of life.
Why? Why do we have so little faith in the logic and beauty of simplicity?
A simple t-shirt and a simple pair of jeans was all I felt like wearing when these photos were taken. I remember feeling very tired (it was evening, after a long day of work) but I remember being overcome with a sense of calm; an ease in feeling a disregard for the bells and whistles. Sure, I’m set on living my life to the absolute fullest and having crazy, fantastic experiences and wearing clothes that push me out of my comfort zone and working constantly and striving to achieve as much as possible (without burning out). I always want the best, specifically when it comes to my creative output and personal achievements. Push yourself harder Beth, you’re not doing enough. But I’m also realising the significance of (just occasionally) adopting a steady pace, slowing down and taking time to appreciate the little things, taking time to extract myself from the hurricane of stress and simplify life once in a while.
And honestly? I think it’s more enjoyable that way.
Love, Beth xo.
