My favourite colour is grey. For summer, for winter and for everything from clothes to decorations (I have quite the collection of grey throws and cushions). So naturally, when UGG asked me to style a colour-themed summer look as part of their latest campaign, I chose grey. Broken up with black – obviously.
For years I associated UGG with the infamous pull-on winter boot (though I did have a pair with buttons at one point too), having grown up lusting after the latest style and begging my parents for a pair at every opportunity that merited such a gift (I know I’m not the only girl that went through this phase, stop judging). It’s not until recent years that people have recognised the brand for more than just the classic boot – though don’t be fooled, it’s a legacy in its own right. You can now shop a wide range of casual shoes like plimsolls and trainers, sandals and flip-flops – accessories and loungewear too.
If I spotted someone wearing these gorgeous charcoal-coloured trainers from a distance, I definitely wouldn’t have guessed they were from UGG. But they are – and they’re rather lovely. For a while now I’ve been wanting some casual trainers, a gorgeous pair for use outside of a gym. Although my style is often described as quite feminine, there are a number of outfits I wear that don’t quite fit into that category and I’m always left with unsuitable footwear choices.
I love these trainers and by styling them with a ruffle-hem dress from In The Style and a pop of my favourite red lipstick (MAC‘s Ruby Woo), I still kept the outfit feminine. I actually loved wearing a dress and trainers, it’s not something I would usually think to do but I enjoyed walking round with blister-free feet (a rarity!) and I liked the slightly tomboy-ish element. So perhaps this is a look you’ll see me sporting more often!
What do you think? Are you a fan of the dress & trainers combination?
Love, Beth xo.
