It's been a long time coming. After countless emails, phone calls and one very indecisive madam (guilty), BethNorton.co.uk is finally back - looking slicker and more beautiful than ever. And I couldn't be happier!
For a very long time now, this blog has needed an upgrade. It had gotten to the point where I didn't even enjoy posting because I just hated the layout. It didn't visually stimulate or excite me, so I became uninspired with the content I posted. Silly, right? But if I felt that way, I can only imagine how unenjoyable the experience must have been for you, as my readers. Simplicity I value, blandness I don't.
But now, with the help of the incredible team at Gatto, I finally have a website that I'm proud to call my own. No longer will I shy away from giving out my URL, I will hand it over with pride, smiling. Because this brand, my business, is finally starting to shape up the way I always dreamed it would.
So what's changed?
I've finally got a full-width scrolling feature, no more messy side columns or mini Instagram grids. You can now see all my latest Instagram posts at the top of the page, along with my handle and links to all of my social channels. There's a search tool if you're looking for something specific or if you want to browse all the posts under one topic, you can click straight onto your desired category from the homepage, below the post slider.
And let's talk shopping - you can now shop everything I'm wearing and buying straight from Snapchat, Twitter & Instagram through the widget on my homepage. Bit easier than sending over individual links eh? I'll be updating this very regularly so if you've spotted something I'm wearing that you like, this is where you'll find it!
Yet despite the shiny new functions and the beautiful layout (if I do say so myself), it's the changing format of my posts that I'm most excited about. It was Cat at Gatto that first suggested a page builder tool, that would allow me to play around with image sizes, text placement and post composition. And with the tech part of my brain the size of a pea, I have to be honest in saying it's taken me a while to figure out. But with a bit of late night reading and Cat's very patient explanations, I've just about grasped how to use it - and I love it.
You'll no longer be scrolling through dense imagery to read the text at the end but hopefully enjoy my posts separated into columns and rows, a bit like a "proper" publication.
It's the little things ...
And last but by no means least, there will now be a 'Shop The Post' slider in every post, so you can click straight through to the products and shop to your heart's content (as if you needed more encouragement, right?).
So there we have it.
I couldn't be more pleased with the design, I finally feel like my website reflects my style, my tastes and the direction that my content is headed. I'd like to say a huge thank you to Cat at Gatto, whose kindness and patience knows no bounds and whose talent helped to make my visions a reality. She's a dream to work with! If you're ever in need of a little blog refresh or website upgrade, Gatto is the place to go. We will continue to develop and improve every element of design but please, if you have any thoughts or feedback, leave them down below. Your opinion matters!
I'm so excited for this new chapter, I've never been so inspired to create and share. This feels like another leap forward in my journey - and I'm so glad you're here to experience it with me.
